Porsche Design Flat Six P'6340 Automatic Chronograph
At Baselworld 2009, Porsche Design introduced some new versions of their popular Flat Six P'6340 Automatic Chronograph. For the most part, the watches are the same as when they were originally introduced in 2007. They still feature a 44.5 mm x 15 mm stainless steel case that is water-resistant to 120 meters. Inside is the same modified 7750 movement, with a signature Porsche alloy wheel shaped rotor and visibility through the sapphire caseback. The chronograph pushers are flush mounted with the case at 2 and 4 o'clock, like on the original. And the sporty dial layout that you expect from a watch that pays homage to the venerable Porsche 911, is unchanged.
What is new for 2009 though, are three new color schemes, including one with a red dial and black accents, one with a black dial and red accents and one with a mixture of black and gold. Sinn 917 GR Rally Chronograph
Last month, German watchmaker, Sinn, introduced a new model, the 917 GR Rally Chronograph. The new Rally Chronograph features a countdown bezel that is controlled by the crown at 4 o'clock. This makes it possible to read off finish times with to-the second accuracy, with red numerals to call attention to the all-important, final 15-seconds.
The case is 44 mm and comes in fully polished stainless steel. The dial and caseback are both protected by anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The caseback crystal has an interior anti-reflective treatment. The crystal protecting the dial has an anti-reflective treatment inside and outside the case. The case features Sinn's Ar ? dehumidifying technology for enhanced freedom from fogging.
The upper subdial displays chronograph hours, the lower subdial at 6 o'clock displays chronograph minutes and the central seconds hand displays chronograph seconds. The subdial at 3 o'clock displays small seconds. The indicator at 9 o'clock shows the level of power reserve. The date is displayed 4 o'clock, and is controlled by the crown at 9 o'clock.
Inside, is a slightly modified Valjoux 7750 mechanical movement. Water-resistance is 100 meters. The watch is both shock and anti-magnetic.

Business process re-engineering (BPR) sounds esoteric at best, and maybe a little pretentious. Wouldn’t it be simpler to say business process change? Most people understand what a business process is but when you combine it with re-engineering, it suddenly sounds vague. The ProSci-sponsored BPR Online Learning Center calls a business process “a set of activities that transform a set of inputs into a set of outputs (goods or services) for another person or process using people and tools.” It is simple. The way we interpret that is: • there are several ways of doing business, • when one of those ways is not working or is considered to be ineffective it has to be improved, • certain elements are introduced to make it better (“inputs”), • those components translate into a better service of product, • that product or service is supposed to serve another person (a customer, a supplier, a partner) That’s elementary enough, but why do business processes have to be re-engineered? It’s All About the Customer (and Competition) The thought behind business process re-engineering is to delight the customer. By delighting him, we get to keep him, turning him into a faithful disciple. Competitors have a sneaky way of snatching customers away from us. It’s not because this world is full of crafty and evil people, it’s because we tend to sit on our laurels and think that we’ve finally got it made. We’ve become lax. Business process improvement, according to ProSci, is not be confused with business process re-engineering. Instead of improving on current processes, the re-engineering concept says that because the process is no longer viable, it has to be replaced, abandoned. There’s a need to establish a clean slate, as the BPR Online Learning Center teaches us. Business process re-engineering, just like the DMAIC in Six Sigma, presupposes a series of stages: stage 1 involves a definition of the project – its rationale, objectives and scope. Stage 2 covers the entire learning process wherein we obtain as much information as we can about our customers, employees, suppliers and competitors – including non-competitors and align that new information with technology. Armed with this knowledge, the next stage – stage 3 - is to set up our mission. Others call it a vision of the future. This requires a new set of business processes. Once we’ve determined the desired outcome of this transition, we move on to the next stage which calls for a plan of action that allows us to measure the gap between our company’s present state and where we want it to go. When we get to this stage, solutions logically follow. If you’re still wondering what distinguishes business process improvement from business process re-engineering, think of the starting point: are you starting from an existing process and want to improve on it, or do you want to start from scratch? Thanks to Information Technology Fast forward to globalization. We’re ushering in new technologies and they’re coming faster than we can learn them. There’s also this whole new talk about customer relationship management (CRM) strategies. We’re huffing and puffing and bursting at the seams. Businesses that have not adapted to global trends or introduced newer technologies into their operations will be clobbered by the competition. Today’s companies cannot afford to sit back and watch while others struggle with changes in the industry. Thanks to information technology and the creation of new business models, the world of e-commerce has given new meaning to the way we do business. As Hui-Liang Tsai puts it, “e-commerce is no longer a way to gain competitive advantage, it is a competitive imperative.” (Information Technology and Business Process Re-engineering: New Perspectives and Strategies, Praeger Publishers, Connecticut, 2003). While companies are trying to keep up with technologies, customers are also changing. They are more demanding and are never satisfied. They fall out of love, and don’t necessarily have to explain why. Picture the speed with which information is transmitted with just a click of the mouse. It used to be that urgent documents had to be couriered by special messenger or faxed immediately; today, documents are electronically portable. Mr. Tsai says that this phenomenon alone is producing a new crop of workers – he calls them knowledge workers. We are looking at the transformation of industrial society into an information society. Progress in information technology is only one of the numerous reasons why companies have embraced business process re-engineering. If organizations desperately want to succeed, first they need information – truckloads of it. Second, they need to know how to turn that information to their advantage. The practice of business process re-engineering can refine a lot of that information into digestible parts.

An offset printer based approach to large print jobs is always a good idea especially when your project involves promotional materials. One of the main purposes of a print campaign is to get your name and company presence out there into the world and making sure that your printed pieces are high quality as well as affordable is important. For many businesses, the advertising budget is the area that they mull over the most as they try to make sure they get noticed. Offset printing allows for a large number of great quality reproductions while making sure to keep the piece price within reason.
The ad pages that are sent out representing your business need to be crisp, clear, and colored correctly. Even if printed on thinner stock, the colors have to be accurate or else pictures of the items that you're promoting in your ad will be offputting. No one will be moved to purchase food from a supermarket if the grapes in the pictures are orange and the milk is light blue. Leaks in the basement and bathroom, faded exterior paint and a rusty roof are reasons I want to acquire a major home improvement in VA. Guess I’ve been working too hard thus hardly noticing 10 years have already passed since I had a home construction in VA. However, upon seeing the deteriorating features of my abode one weekend, I realized I have to do something fast before my house falls down on me unexpectedly while I’m sound asleep at night.
Though I badly want to improve my place, I don’t know where to start. I’m not knowledgeable in structures, foundations and roofing systems. In fact, had it not been for my brother’s home construction project in MD 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have considered putting up my own house since I was happy traveling to different places and not having to worry about what could possibly happen to my house while I’m away. Renting fully furnished apartments and studio units was easier for me then.
Now that I’m faced with this predicament which concerns my home, I really don’t know what to do. I called my brother yesterday to share it with him but he said he’s in the middle of a conversation with painters from a home painting company in MD. That’s my big brother, always after the welfare of his haven and sparing so little time for me.
I trooped down the neighborhood bookstore to find myself an interesting book. Outside the bookstore, a big banner screamed “Get 75% discount!” I wonder how many books I could bring home today I thought excitedly. I scanned the pages of The King of Torts by John Grisham. I had this book before but somebody borrowed it, and unfortunately forgot to return it to me.
As I roamed the place, I noticed a new read on the magazine stand. Usually this area would teem with People, Cosmopolitan, Entrepreneur, The Economist, and other familiar titles, but today a new glossy read titled Fresh Home joins the pile. Impressive layout I thought as I examined the cover of the magazine with several storyline titles of interesting topics ranging from home remodeling in DC, decorating tips, DIY home furnishings, and many others. I bought the magazine and drove to the Subway Restaurant to grab a bite. After my meal, I headed home and contacted a remodeling company as I have some great remodeling ideas that only they can concretize.

- Beware of illegal schemes offering early access to super
There is currently a range of illegal schemes and plans that exist that are offering unsuspecting taxpayers access to their superannuation savings before retirement. The promoters of these plans will tell you that they are able to access your super savings for reasons such as paying off debt, buying a house or car or even going on a holiday. These schemes, as enticing as they may seem, are illegal and heavy penalties apply if you decide to participate in them.
It is extremely important to understand that super savings cannot be accessed prior to retirement, except in some very limited and highly restricted circumstances. These specific circumstances are usually related to specific medical conditions or when the individual/s are experiencing severe financial hardship.
The promoters of these illegal super schemes encourage you to transfer super savings from your existing fund to a self-managed super fund (SMSF) so that you can access and utilise your super savings before you retire. They offer to make it easy for you to complete the transfer in return for a substantial fee.
These promoters will often target people who are under financial pressure or who do not have a clear understanding of superannuation laws. Most of these illegal schemes require you to roll over your savings from your large, established super fund into a SMSF. Getting involved with one of these schemes by either offering or accepting the transaction constitutes illegal activity and is treated as such by authorities. Not only is it illegal but those who chose to participate in these schemes also leave themselves vulnerable to the possibility of losing some or all of their super savings to the criminals but also exposing themselves to possible identity fraud.
Superannuation savings are intended to provide you with financial security and support when you retire. As mentioned previously early access to the funds is not permitted and if found to do so illegally there are hefty penalties to pay. Penalties vary depending on the party at fault and an outline of these follows below.
Penalties for an individual/ a member of a super fund: Any money you withdraw from a super fund will be included as income in your tax return and will be fully assessed at your marginal tax rate, plus the Medicare levy. Any fee or commission that a promoter takes from your super savings when they help you to roll over your super or set up an SMSF cannot be claimed as a deduction. If you do not include withdrawn super amounts in your tax return then you may be required to pay interest and penalties on the additional tax that you owe.
Penalties for a trustee: As a trustee of the super fund, any super that you illegally access forms part of your assessable income and you are likely to face higher taxes and additional penalties as a result.
Trustees can also be disqualified if and when they allow super savings to be accessed early. Disqualified persons are then unable to operate as a trustee of an SMSF. As a trustee, if you knowingly allow illegal access of super savings, you may be liable for penalties of up to $220,000 and/or jail terms of up to five years, or fines of up to $1.1 million for corporate trustees.
Penalties for a SMSF: An SMSF used to assist the illegal release of super savings may be treated as non-complying and as a result the fund’s income will be taxed at the highest marginal tax rate. The fund’s income may include the value of its assets accumulated before the fund became non-complying and would result in even more considerable financial penalties.
Penalties for a promoter: Any identified promoters of these illegal schemes will be assessed on all the fees and commissions that are received for arranging the early release of super savings and for setting up SMSFs. Additionally, if these amounts have not been included in the promoter’s tax return, penalties and a general interest charge will also be applied to any tax shortfall.
